About Garner Health

Garner Health is a provider of healthcare services used to help employers give their employees a better healthcare experience. The company offers its solution through employers who want to give their employees a better quality healthcare experience and in-turn save on the cost of healthcare because the best doctors end up costing the least money.

Job Description

Garner's mission is to transform the healthcare economy, delivering high quality and affordable care for all. By helping employers restructure their healthcare benefit to provide clear incentives and data-driven insights, we direct employees to higher quality and lower cost healthcare providers. The result is that patients get better health outcomes while doctors are rewarded for practicing well, not performing more procedures. We are backed by top-tier venture capital firms, are growing rapidly and looking to expand our team.

We are looking for a hands-on Data Engineering Manager to join our data engineering team and lead the development of our core data pipelines. The ideal candidate for this role should be excited about hands-on work, mentoring junior engineers, and working closely with Data Scientists.

This is a fully remote position.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Build and maintain the pipelines that drive our provider rankings
  • Collaborate across disciplines to provide timely and accurate information
  • Protect our users’ privacy and security
  • Assist in task planning, estimation, scheduling, and staffing
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
  • Grow engineering teams by interviewing, recruiting, and hiring

Our Tools:

Python, Argo, Snowflake, AWS

Ideal candidate has:

  • 7+ years of hands-on work building data pipelines
  • Proven work experience as a Data Engineering Manager or similar role (Engineer Team Leader)
  • Experience supervising a team of technical experts while making decisions related to engineering and software development
  • Expertise in SQL and Python
  • Comfortable leading research and development projects that produce new designs, products, and processes
  • Comfortable checking the team’s work for technical accuracy
  • Ability to coordinate work with other managers and staff
  • Familiarity with healthcare or insurance
  • Experience working in a team using Agile methodologies and fluency with the Agile toolkit

What we look for at Garner:

  • Mission First: Our mission is to transform our healthcare system, delivering high quality and affordable care to all. Everything else is secondary.
  • Expect Extraordinary: Our mission is audacious, so we will only succeed by producing exceptional results. We continually push ourselves and each other to new heights and beyond our comfort zones.
  • Courageous Communication: Transparency and candor are imperative to realizing our potential as an organization and as individuals—even when uncomfortable. Many companies talk about these values. We live them.
  • Supportive community: We know that people do their best work and learn the most when they feel genuinely supported and cared for. It’s also more fun that way.

The target salary range for this position is: $200,000 - $230,000. Individual compensation for this role will depend on a variety of factors including qualifications, skills and applicable laws. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible to participate in our equity incentive and competitive benefits plans. This role is also bonus eligible.
